| Spring is here |
The ice has gone from about all bodies of water.
Smelts are running when water levels are down in the streams and rivers.
Brookies are hitting flies, lures, and bait.
LL Salmon are on top this time of year and people are picking up a few by trolling flies and other different lures.
Water temps are starting to get up into the 50's so large and smallmouth bass are heading into their beds to get ready for the spawn.
So get out there and catch a few fish and good luck.

| Ice Out |
Been checking a few of my favorite places to fish here the last few days and the ice is still in solid. But you never know it could be gone in a week. I have seen it in past years.
I do have a couple of small rivers that are open to fishing and can pick up a few fish on opening day (April first).
I am still hopeing that by the middle of April a guy can get a boat in to do some spring trolling for salmon.
Tight lines. |

| Spring is around the corner |
Just as soon as the ice is out of our ponds and lakes, and the open water fishing season begins I will be trolling for LL Salmon and Lake Trout.
This is a traditional Maine fishing trip. It is early in the season so it will be cold and need to dress warm.
Anybody that is interested contact me thru this website and book a trip. |

| Ice Fishing 2008 |
Hi all, ice fishing has been going good in this area so far. Some guys are smelting and catching a few but no big catches to report.
Ice conditions are better now, than what they were about a month ago. The first part of the season we had a lot of snow and the ice was not solid ice and was thin in a lot of places.
I have ice fished a few times and been picking up a few brook trout. Some fish have been nice and fat but the pond I fish they have to be 12" to keep one. Keep an eye open on my photo page and will try to get a few pictures posted.
Spring is around the corner. But if you get cabin fever check around your area for fly tying classes or other things to keep you out of trouble till spring. You can also get out and try your luck at ice fishing.
Have fun and be safe. |

| End of year |
It has been a while since my last post. Been very busy with hunting season and all.
Did tag out with a nice deer this fall and helped a few others get one also.
Still have been fishing a few small rivers in the area. Been picking warm days to get out and catch a few salmon and brookies. Small olive buggers and muddlers fished deep have been getting hits.
Ice fishing will be starting soon just as ice conditions warrent. With this snow we have been getting it hunders the ice to freeze so care should be taken when checking the ice out.
I hope all get what you want Santa to bring you.
See you in the new year.
Happy Holidays

| Summer Fishing |
It has been a while since my last post. It has been a busy fishing season.
Water temps were way up a few weeks ago. They were almost in the mid 80's. Just a bit to warm to fish for trout or salmon.
The rain that we have had in the last week has dropped water temps back down into the mid 70's.
Been doing well on largemouth bass. They have been eatting just about anything that swims by their noses. Tubes, worms, and flies all have been working well.
Mackeral and Striper fishing has been real slow in this area.
About it from this area. I can't wait for fall with the cooler nights and a bit more rain to get the streams full and cool for some brook trout fishing.
Good luck and be safe.

| Fish are bitting |
Boy has the weather been nice so far this month. Cool nights and warm days.
Trolling for salmon has been the thing of spring. Streamer flies and other lures work well. Water temps in the last week or so have been great for trolling between 46-55 degrees.
Brookies have been going strong in the last month. Small buggers and nymphs have been doing well also a few streamers.
Bass are starting into there spawing grounds to do there thing. Tube lures fished slow will produce some fish.
And now the big thing is that the blackflies are getting out so don't forget the bug juice.
Have a good time out on the water this spring.

| Fishing is picking up |
About all ponds and lakes in my area are ice free. Brook trout fishing has picked up with the water temps up to 50 degrees now.
Fishing slowed a bit this past weekend with what rain we had. Water temps went down and made them a bit slugish.
Flies (red+whites, small streamers, bloody mary, beadhead nymphs) and small (kastmasters, rooster tails) lures work well. Fish them slow on these colder days.
Turkey season is in full swing at this time. Have seen a few birds.
That is about it from my area of Downeast Maine.
Good luck and be safe this spring.

| Spring Fishing |
April is here again and so is the open water fishing season. Water temps are down into the mid 30\'s.
Ponds and lakes are still shut in with ice in my area of Downeast Maine.
With this new snow fall that we had this past week (4/5/07) it still will be awhile before you can get out.
Streams and rivers are open. There might be some ice along the shores so be carefull getting into the water to wade.
Hopefully towards the end of the month a person can get out and drag a few streamers behind a boat or canoe for trout and salmon.
Keep you law book handy there has been some changes again this year.
Have fun this spring and good luck.

| Fall |
October is here and this past weekend was a wild one. We had any where from 6"-8" of rain and wind up to 30mph. Most of the leaves that were colored have hit the ground. But the good news is that we have more trees to change color.
Fishing is still going on in most of the local ponds and lakes. Trolling has been the best way to pick up bigger fish. Streamers,Mooselooks, and Rapalas work the best.
Duck season is in full swing for seaducks. There season runs from Oct.1-Jan.31
Puddle ducks the first season ends Oct 29th but starts up again the 14th of Nov and runs until Dec.24th.
Bow season for deer is going on now till the end of October.
The Firearm season on deer starts Oct.31 and runs till Nov.26
Blackpowder season runs for 2 weeks after this.
Good luck this fall in what ever you do. |
